According to the human rights organisation Viasna, on 21 April the Belarusian Interior Ministry compiled the traditional Friday update of the "List of Belarusian citizens, foreign nationals or stateless persons involved in extremist activities". The list was updated with new names, including trade union activists.
Now the list of "extremists" includes 2,735 people. This time the chairman of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions (BKDP) Aliaksandr Yarashuk, his deputy Siarhei Antusevich and accountant Iryna But-Husaim were added to it.
Earlier, trade union leaders Aliaksandr Mishuk, deputy chairman of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union (BNP), Yanina Malash, deputy chairman of the Free Trade Union of Metalworkers (SPM), as well as a number of SPM activists were added to the list.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also includes those who are currently serving time in places of deprivation of liberty, and those who have already been released, and even those whose convictions have already been served. Those on the list are subject to a number of activity-related bans. In addition, the financial transactions of citizens included in the "List of Extremists" are subject to special control in accordance with legislative acts.
