On the sidelines of the International Labour Conference, representatives of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions (BKDP) met with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Gilbert Houngbo. The meeting was attended by Maksim Pazniakou, Acting President of the BKDP, and Siarhei Antusevich, Deputy President, who recently regained his freedom and left Belarus after serving a politically motivated sentence.

The discussion focused on the current situation of workers’ rights in Belarus. The parties agreed that the most pressing issue remains the release of trade union leaders and activists who are currently in detention — dozens of such cases persist.
- The Director-General inquired about my health following my release and welcomed my return to professional duties. We remain convinced that the ILO is the only effective forum for addressing all matters related to the application of Article 33 of the ILO Constitution to Belarus, - commented Siarhei Antusevich.
