The young trade union activists discussed national and international campaigns to deliver platform workers’ rights. Marieke Koning of the ITUC updated the participants on the current international campaign, stressing the importance of the ILO convention to regulate platform work scheduled for adoption by the 2026 ILC in June; the Convention would recognize platform workers as labour market participants enjoying full rights.

The workshop participants underscored the important role of trade unions in discussing digital labour platform regulation issues and the impact of the AI on the labour market. Young unionists intend to continue exchanging national best practices in the area of improving national legislation and developing joint campaigns with the view of keeping these relevant issues in focus.
