On the Day of Political Prisoners, which is marked annually on October 30, member of the German Bundestag Helge Limburg once again addressed a letter to his political godson – Andrei Paheryla, a repairman at JSC “Grodno Azot” and member of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union, imprisoned in the “Rabochy Rukh” case.

In his letter, the MP emphasized that the international community has not forgotten Belarusian political prisoners and continues to fight for their release.
“I am writing to you again so that you understand you are not forgotten,” noted Helge Limburg. “The international community continues to fight for your freedom and for the freedom of all political prisoners in Belarus.”
The politician reminded that October 30 is the day when the world remembers all those who have been deprived of liberty for their beliefs, for participating in peaceful protests, and for defending human and labor rights.
“I continue to work so that the governments of democratic countries make the release of political prisoners a global priority, provide them with legal and humanitarian assistance, as well as support for their families,” the MP stressed.
Helge Limburg wished Andrei Paheryla strength and resilience, expressing hope that he will soon be able to return home and see his loved ones.
“This will definitely come to an end,” he wrote. “You will once again be able to walk free and reunite with your family. On this day, as on every other, you and your fate are not forgotten.”
The member of parliament also sent the prisoner several sheets of paper for a reply and assured him that he is ready to help whenever possible. It is important to note that Helge continues to write regularly to Andrei, despite the fact that his letters most likely do not reach the prisoner due to the actions of the colony administration.
