So far, all professors and students have served prison terms in a politically motivated case for university protests. Among them were members of the Free Trade Union of Belarus (SPB).

On 16 July 2021 Judge of Savetski District Court of Minsk Maryna Fiodarava pronounced the verdicts in the "students' case". She sentenced virtually all the defendants in the case to 2.5 years in a colony.

Tatsiana Yakelchyk is a student of the BSU Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. She was detained by KGB officers on 27 November 2020. Before that, her home was searched, during which a phone and a laptop were seized.

From the KGB pre-trial detention facility, where Tatsiana was kept for the first few days after her arrest, she was transferred to the pre-trial detention facility on Volodarskogo street. She was on trial for group actions grossly violating public order (part 1 of article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).

The girl served her full sentence of two and a half years and was released on 23 December 2022.
