Sentence handed down to the leadership of the BKDP

The Minsk City Court passed a verdict in the criminal case of the leaders of the Association of Trade Unions "Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions" - chairman Aliaksandr Yarashuk was sentenced to 4 years, his deputy Sergei Antusevich to 2 years and accountant Irina But-Husaim - to 1.5 years in prison.

They were accused of actions that grossly violate public order (part 1 of article 342), and Aliaksandr Yarashuk was also accused of calling for restrictive measures and other actions aimed at harming the national security of the Republic of Belarus (part 3 of article 361).


The trial was led by Judge Valiantsina Ziankevich. All the defendants have been in custody since 19 April 2022. These are the sentences requested by the state prosecutor.

The verdicts on the leaders of the REP union will be handed down today.
