The ILO Governing Body calls on Belarus to cooperate with the Special Envoy and allow international missions

At the 356th Session of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization, discussion of the “Belarus issue” was concluded. The matter was considered under item 12 of the agenda: “Follow-up to the implementation of the resolution concerning measures recommended by the Governing Body under Article 33 of the ILO Constitution with regard to Belarus.”

A member of the German Bundestag Helge Limburg, who has taken on a symbolic partnership with a Belarusian political prisoner and trade union activist Andrei Paheryla, has once again sent him a letter. In it, the MP wished Andrei a happy birthday and reminded him that he has not been forgotten in Germany.

The FPB is increasingly becoming an ideological arm of the authorities

The pro-government Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FPB), already firmly integrated into the state system, is increasingly turning into an ideological structure far removed from its original purpose. It is no longer even making much effort to conceal this formally. Siarhei Antusevich, Deputy Chair of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions (BKDP), comments on the FPB’s growing activity on the ideological front.

LabourStart launches international campaign calling for the release of trade union leader Lee Cheuk-yan

The international trade union platform LabourStart has launched a global campaign calling for the immediate release of Hong Kong trade union leader Lee Cheuk-yan and activist Chow Hang-tung. The campaign began on 11 September together with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), Building and Wood Workers’ International (BWI), Education International (EI), the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and Hong Kong Labour Rights Monitor.
